Situated on the Han River in the north-west of the country, Seoul has a population of around eleven million within the city itself and over 27,000,000 in its urban area, making it the fourth most populous megalopolis in the world. There are 5 royal palaces in Seoul. Gyeongbokgung is the largest and most visited. Cheonggyecheon is 6 km long and a very pretty place to take a stroll in downtown Seoul. Cheonggyecheon is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Seoul. Gwanghwamun Square is a large pedestrian area where you can stroll and take a break. This square is right next to the entrance to Gyeongbokgung Palace. Bukchon Hanok Village is in the historic centre of Seoul. It is one of Seoul’s oldest districts. It was the home of the Korean nobility during the Joseon dynasty. From the heights of Bukchon Hanok Village, you can see the contrast between the traditional houses of the district and the modern buildings of Seoul.

Procedures
Passport valid for six months after your return date. All foreign exchange students must obtain a D-2-6 visa to study in Hanyang. The D-2-6 visa is a single-entry visa that is only valid for 90 days after the student’s arrival in Korea. Therefore, students must apply for an Alien Registration Card (ARC) to extend their stay in order to complete the program and travel to other countries if necessary. Students may not leave Korea until they have received the ARC. Leaving Korea without the FRC will result in the cancellation of the visa and the Visiting Student Program.
