27 classrooms, a 296-seat amphitheatre, a modular conference and events centre…
A wide range of cultural and sporting activities are on offer https://www.hec.ca/etudiants/vie-sur-le-campus/culture-sports-loisirs/index.html and you can also join the many student associations https://www.hec.ca/etudiants/vie-sur-le-campus/vie-associative/index.html
To discover
Montréal is a dynamic university city, attracting some of the world’s top talent. The second largest city in North America in terms of the number of students per capita, it offers a stimulating environment for study and research. It’s also a vibrant city, internationally renowned for its diverse cultural life.
The city’s emblematic historic district, Old Montreal is distinguished by its typically European atmosphere and architecture. The little brick houses are reminiscent of some small French villages!
Mount Royal, also known as the Mountain, is the highest point in the city. At 233 metres high, this 190-hectare park is immense, the green lung of the city.
There are also a number of pleasant water-based activities not to be missed (cruises on the St Lawrence, jetskiing, excursions to the Lasalle rapids), but above all a pleasant stroll in a green setting with a beautiful view of the buildings in the centre.
An unusual way of discovering the other side of Montreal when it’s snowing and -30°C outside is to take a walk through the city’s underground tunnels, which link most of the major shopping complexes in the centre.
Less than 2 hours from Montreal, you’ll also have the chance to immerse yourself in nature: the Parc Oméga, 800 hectares of nature, free-roaming animals, fir forests and endless lakes, the Parc des chutes Dorwin in Rawdon and the Mont Tremblant region.
Good to know
Montreal is also, and above all, Canada’s cultural capital, with some 250 theatres and concert halls, and over 90 festivals organised throughout the year.
Music festivals (Igloofest, Francopholies), gastronomy, cinema, circus, sporting events (Formula 1 Grand Prix, marathon…), parades and parades, there’s bound to be something to keep you busy during your stay. If you’re visiting Montreal in winter, don’t miss the Montreal High Lights Festival.
Average temperatures are around -10° in winter and 20° in summer, but beware: they can regularly drop to -30° on certain winter days and 35° in high summer. What’s more, several centimetres of snow are a regular occurrence in winter, so remember to bring warm, waterproof boots.
